VersaTube Frame Assembly By ONE person
VersaTube frame assembly by ONE person. Yes, it is possible to assemble a basic VersaTube shelter frame by yourself!
This short video shows how I installed uprights and top sections by myself. This is a 12' x 18' x 7' frame (2" x 2" tubing) that is the basis for carports, garages, or workshops.
The bottom baseplate was laid down and secured with the rebar anchors provided in my carport kit. I squared it up by measuring the diagonal dimensions (259.5"). www.omnicalculator.com/math/hypotenuse
In my case, some of the tubes had inside burrs that needed to be filed down to allow the swaged ends to easily slide in. Check for this problem before you have tubes in the air and you can't slip one int...

Mayslack's Polka Lounge Tribute

This is a video/audio tribute to a Northeast Minneapolis landmark establishment from the 1950s through the 1970s era. Stan Mayslack was a local prominent wrestler who, with his brother Butch, opened this small bar on the SW corner of 15th Avenue and 4th Street. This area of the Twin Cities had been settled mostly by German and Polish immigrants at the turn of the century. Of course, along with ...

Stosh was my cousin. On visits to Mpls we always went to Mayslacks. I even helped his wife Butch prepare one of these magical huge roasts. But they took the secret to the grave. Part if it I’m sure is that it was probably the biggest roast I’d ever seen. At least 30 pounds and probably as big as they come. Two mason jars of peeled garlic. Peeling the garluc was my job. I have suspicions about the aus jus but I am unlikely to ever make a roast that large. Best ever for sure.

I used your idea to put up a 22 x 22 x 8 carport. I used tied c-clamps onto third hand support poles onto the 7 ft right & left pieces. I inserted the 8 ft center pole in the middle. Then I ran tie straps across the bottom & over my head to pull the top together & align the sides w a level. Afterwards, I hung a 32" tie strap on both sides so that I could insert my 14 ft brace on one end. I climbed a ladder w the other end & hung it. My frame would have been a back breaker for 2 people. I did it myself & my back feels fine.

My dad took me there in the early 70's when I was about 12 or 13. I only had one hand on the plate initially, and Mayslack said "Two Hands" to me and I quickly got my other hand on it. I found out later that was a thing of his, that you needed two hands. It was a big sandwhich for a kid, I remember that, and I remember the taste too. It was the best roast beef sandwhich I ever had. Just a lovely flavor. Never forgot it, I also remember he had pictures of his former wrestling days on the wall.

Does anyone know the name of the fiddle tune that is played ? Its a well known fiol musik /fiddle music we play in Sweden and on the scandinavian Midsummer fest here in Seattle every midsommar. I got to visit this place in 1998. It really looks like "home" as far as the rural area of S. Sweden as I was born and raised in Sweden ( Sodertalje area)

Viewers of this video may enjoy visiting the "Old Chisago County Group" on Facebook and help set the younger generations straight on the old customs and traditions that were left behind over a century ago, as the Swedes settled and populated this area of Minnesota in the USA. Apparently the 'single bed' controversy is still alive and well in our region and could probably use some additional elaboration, as datapeter pointed out! facebook.com/groups/343291885809970/

Oh, I love this. But as a comment, single-beds vs double ones aren't that common. 90 centimeters+ are counted as a double. Also, I think you guys confuse Swedish and Finland, which isn't surprising considering our close relationship. But at the same time Sweden and Finland have two very different languages (my mother is Finnish, so I recognize both)

As a swede I can confirm that there are only single beds here. Double beds was banned in the 1950s as they got popular and since then it has been illegal to own one. So the double beds you buy at Ikea today was designed and produced in Sweden, but they are under heavy surveillance to make sure no person will lay on it until it is shipped out of the country. One may think this is a strange law, but it makes sense for swedes and today there are not much controverse surrounding the law.

Really? I am from Chile and I have a sister married with a swede, and they sleep in a double bed like any couple (emigrants and swedes) that I knew (in the north, i.e. Luleå, Piteå, Kiruna, etc.) Please explain to me this, I love svenska kultur, and I just finish Moberg's Emigrants's books serie.

Yes, as a Swede I have to confirm that there are only single beds. My wife and I tried to share a bed once, for cultural curiosity, but it was utterly awkward and we both felt ashamed afterwards

Mayslack's was the best. The garlic sandwiches were so good that once I ate two of them (huge) and lived to tell it. Stan was making my sandwich and when I went to reach and grab an extra piece of bread, he whacked my fingers with his tongs. I didn't do that again. Good polka music too.

Very cute :D You've captured the feel of a Swedish 19th century home pretty well :D We do have double beds in Sweden though :p Actually, I think that the bed upstairs would have been a double bed, not today, but back then the beds weren't huge like today :)
